Overview: Unwifeable is a self-written memoir by Mandy Stadtmiller, a writer-turned-comedian, detailing her post-divorce move to Manhattan, where she attempts to conquer the city, her new job, and (of course) love. Though her new life seems glamorously covetable on the surface, the never-ending partying is almost as exhausting as bouncing back and forth between a long list of men. A new kind of “Sex in the City” story, Mandy truly shares all the dirty details about her decade spent overcoming pain, pursuing her passion, and learning to love herself.
The biggest #NovelThought I had after finishing Unwifeable is actually a #NovelQuestion: when did comedy begin to require the extreme vulgarity it does now, that we’ve become all so accustomed to?
Recommendation: comical and honest, Unwifeable is for anyone that has ever hit rock bottom and wondered it they would be okay. If you are able to get past the chunky stories of her sexual and alcohol-infused escapades, there are some golden tokens of wisdom and words of encouragement. Also, despite the raunchiness of it, its entertaining as hell... and will definitely leave you wanting to be friends with her!! (I know I do!)
In my reviews I aim to be unbiased & steer clear of major spoiler-alerts (no promises though!)
